Bottom line: In a comparison of NIR spectrometers for determining food authenticity, Ocean Optics' Flame-NIR demonstrated good predictability in identifying adulterated coriander seeds.

Bottom line: Study of how birds communicate has relevance for understanding how humans learn speech. Some of the research here included measuring the relative radiance of zebra finch beak and wing color using an Ocean Optics Flame spectrometer, light source and reflection probe.

Bottom line: As part of efforts to develop better eye disease diagnostics via alternate tear fluid analysis technologies, researchers are using an Ocean Optics Flame-S-VIS-NIR-ES spectrometer and other instruments to measure the reflection of uric acid paper sensors after exposure to artificial tears.
